GIFTED & SCHOOL ADMISSION ASSESSMENTS

An evaluation may be required for admission to  certain schools or specialized programs.  We offer gifted and admission assessments for students preschool through grade school for children as young as 2 years, 6 months.   Although our evaluations are comprehensive, we highly recommend consulting your school prior to scheduling your child's appointment to confirm their requirements.  Please be mindful that criteria may vary school to school.

Gifted children demonstrate high academic performance and intellectual aptitude.  Parents are encouraged to use their discretion in determining a child’s readiness for testing.  Every child is unique as are their abilities.

PROCESS FOR PRESCHOOLERS

For optimal results, it is essential for little ones to feel comfortable.  Prior to the administration of any tasks, we allow your child to become familiar with Dr. B with parents present.  A light-hearted conversation gives them the opportunity to get to know Dr. B.  Once rapport is established, the assessment will start while parents relax in our nearby waiting area.

FEE SCHEDULE

The cost of the Gifted/ Admission Assessment includes the parent interview, test administration, scoring, and report writing.  A non-refundable deposit of half the cost is due at the time of scheduling.   The remaining balance will be charged to your preferred method of payment the morning of your scheduled appointment.

TIMELINE FOR REPORT

With our use of iPads for test administration, we inform you of your child's results within 5-7 business days of the assessment.  Please be mindful of any deadlines set by your child's school to ensure this is sufficient time.  The psychoeducational report will be uploaded to your secure patient portal.  Your child’s standing will be clearly highlighted in the report.  After reviewing the report, feel free to contact us with any questions.

PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS

A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of a student's cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning. These evaluations can identify learning differences as well as attention deficits.  Psychoeducational assessments are individualized, based on the student's area of concern.  Academic accommodations may require coordination with your child's school.  Examples of possible accommodations may include extra time on standardized tests, directions read aloud, simplified assignments, or use a calculator.  1508 accommodation requirements can be found in the Bulletin 1508.

Psychoeducational assessments are also available for college-level students.  These evaluations can be useful in identifying academic weaknesses and attention deficits that may not have been detected or addressed during grade school.  These evaluations may be required for academic accommodations.

PROCESS

Psychoeducational assessments consist of three components- Initial Interview, Testing Session, and Feedback Session.  Each service is billed independently.

At the student’s initial 50 minute intake session, we will determine the appropriate standardized measures needed to identify personal strengths and areas of concern.  Parent and teacher forms are essential portions of your child's assessment.  They allow us to gain a more accurate depiction of you and teachers observe at home and at school.  All versions of the forms are sent electronically with unique links.

The testing session can be completed within 3-4 hours depending on the child’s symptoms, cooperation, and attention level.  The remainder of the testing fee is due the day of testing.  Although most assessments are completed in one day, there are rare occasions that an additional day of testing may be needed if your child has difficulty completing the assessment with the allotted breaks.  If an additional day of testing is needed, there is no additional fee as long as the total assessment time remains within 3-4 hours.

After your child's test results have been interpreted, a feedback session will be schedule.  We will share test results, as well as academic recommendations, while addressing your questions and concerns.

ADULT ADHD ASSESSMENTS

ADHD assessments are offered for adults specifically for adults who are currently enrolled in an academic or trade program. If you are not enrolled in such a program, we will assess the demands of your daily routine to determine the suitability of an assessment.  These evaluations can be useful in identifying attention deficits that may not have been detected or addressed during grade school.  ADHD symptoms can affect your ability to organize, complete daily tasks, and remain focused at work.  Our assessments will identify your strengths and weaknesses with recommendations to suit your needs.

Each component is billed separately to ensure transparent and accurate invoicing. During the 50-minute initial interview, we will engage in a thorough discussion of your concerns and explore the most suitable methods to assess your individual strengths and areas for improvement. The Testing Session typically requires a duration of 2-3 hours, depending on your symptoms, level of cooperation, and attention.  Psychoeducational reports are usually completed within 3 weeks after your testing appointment. During the 50-minute Feedback session, our team will discuss all test results and supply recommendations. We provide non-narcotic medication management for children, adolescents, and adults (ages 6 - 65) with issues related to mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD.  Medical Psychologists strictly adhere to the limitations of their license. In cases where psychological symptoms significantly impair your ability to function at work, maintain relationships, or fulfill basic needs, medication can provide valuable relief and support.

If you are currently taking medication for clinically significant issues, we can assist in determining if your current regimen is beneficial for you.  If your symptoms can be addressed in a healthier, more efficient way, we may recommend changes to the way you take your medication.
Medication management for adults with ADHD may be offered for individuals with proper documentation of previous diagnosis from an acceptable medical source and confirmation of prior medication trials.
To ensure that you meet the criteria for medication consideration, it is necessary to obtain a referral from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) prior to the prescription of any medication. Your PCP will confirm that you have undergone a well-visit within the past year, confirming your eligibility for medication assessment and prescription
